I agree, we need more info.  For all we know, the OP may be asking about turnout pushrods or who knows what else.  With more info we can offer more assistance.

More detail would probably get you a real answer.. What kind of locotive? Brand, wheel arrangement, what's actually broken? Can you provide photos? Without descriptions or photos (or both), we cannot see what you do.
