I've got an 11 x 13 room and my plan is to replace my existing layout with a 9 x 13 version of the RRN.  I really appreciate all of the ideas shared in this thread.  My freelanced RR will be loosly based in rural Louisiana in the 50's with a sugar mill complex as the primary industry in Granite Creek.  I plan on a series of (12) 2' x 3' modules and, if I can figure out how to work it in, I'd like to incorporate an HOn3 line, connecting the 2 towns, possibly using some dual guage track.

I'm still in the room prep stage but once some electrical work and painting is done, the initial benchwork will be quick.  Probably be good if I have the track plan nailed down at that point :)

Ray

I am building the RR&N as well as several others said they would like to build it.  Here is the link to my original post

Here is another on the RR&N

http://cs.trains.com/forums/1323340/ShowPost.aspx

I have all of the bench work built and I have laid the TT corner with two 2" sections of foam.  I have also put in the WS 3% grades for my basement section. This one of my changes to the original plan. I have made few more changes to the last track plan I posted.  Byron Henderson met with me went over the track plan and he made some suggestions (thanks Byron).  The biggest was to flip yard to the isle side (see enclosed updated plan).  I have also had the opportunity to exchange a few ideas with Jerry the designer and included his thoughts in my original post for all to see.

Next step is to start laying the roadbed for the lower area aka the basement and the track.  I had to put some family time in lately and work has slowed.   I did have a heck of time figuring out to swap the 2 hidden switches from the original plan to a 19' cross over but I have it now.

I hope this helps.  Feel free to post if you need any more info or drop me a PM or e mail if want to exchange some thoughts.

Current plan although the crossover  is not correct and I'll just make the change on the layout not update the plan any time soon
