N scale snow removal models
Posted by ham99 on Sunday, April 6, 2008 8:33 AM
I am looking for snow removal equipment for my Union Pacific layout.   I am familiar with the Walthers Russel-type plow, but I haven't seen any rotary models.  I know Tichy markets the Leslie rotary, but it doesn't look like the rotary I saw around 20 years ago when we had a huge snowfall.  We had fourteen feet of snow on the tracks in places, and UP brought in a rotary.  I have heard that Con-Cor produced a rotary model in the 80's.  Is that true?  Was it a static model, or did the blade turn when the car was pushed?  Any comments on it or any other snow plows?

Hi- I have a UP rotary by Dimi Trains.  It was a kit and has been pretty much finished and I have had compliments on it by the owner of a train store that I frequent.  This one isn't geared or motored but I would think you could fix that.  I just picked up a roundhouse kit for a HOn3 rotary and it has instructions to motorize that one--just scale it down and go for it!

Here's the good news--I'm selling all of my Nscale to convert to HOn3.  I don't know the rules on 'dealing' on this forum, but I would be happy to discuss it with you.  I don't find an option for pm's on this site but if you let me know your phone or email I would contact you.

Can't do any fancy stuff on the computer until my wife comes home next week--I do good just to turn this thing on.

The Dimi-Trains kit is now sold by Tichy.
