I need suggestions on the best technique and colors to use to paint mountains. I like the grayish tones for the rocks, cliffs, and slopes of mountains. I have the following colors to use, yellow ochre, raw umber, burnt umber, raw sienna, burnt sienna, black and white. Any help is very much appreciated.

Might want to get a few shades of grey for the rocks too. I'm going to assume your painting scenery and not back drops. I found thinning the colors with some water and making a wash works better than straight paint. I use all craft paint for my scenery. I don't seal my plaster or Sculptimold first. I find the washes soak into the plaster and give a nice uneven effect. As mentioned, look for images of the area your trying to model first.Good luck!
