Looking for a particular switch stand
Posted by stebbycentral on Friday, March 21, 2008 5:37 PM

I'm sending out an SOS on this one.  I'm looking for a particular prototype switch stand in "O" scale (see the link below).  I've Googled all of the ususal suspect; NJ IN'TL, TOMAR, Precision Scale, any place I get a hit on the words "switch stand".  But I'm pretty much coming up empty.  I'm hoping one of you might have similar machines on your layout and be able to recommend a source.

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

In O scale you may be scratch building this one. I have seen similar ones in HO but with a solid tapered base. This  looks do-able with brass angles and wire.  It would be prety rugged also.

I beleive that's called a Seirra style stand. This company lists one in O scale, but no picture.

Look under Evergreen Hill detail parts. I beleive it's non working though.

It does look like a potential scratchbuilding project. Unfortunately I need 4 of them, and I'm up against something of a deadline on this project.  So the last thing I need is another item to complete on the "punch list".

Lothar, thanks for the link.  I knew I'd seen something like it somwhere I just couldn't recollect which manufacturer it was.  I just wish I could find a picture of that brand somewhere, the best I can find is the manufacturer's drawing.  I don't need operating switch stands, the turnouts themselve will be activated via an under-the-table mechanism.  Still it would have been nice to have stands that could change aspect as the turnout was thrown.

After looking at the prototype photo, I guess we all understand why they call them "target" signals.
