Got some work done on the new section.

Well I finally got some work done on the new section. If I had it all to do over, I sure would have never used 2 X 4. There is no such thing as a straight one!

North is toward the garage door.

As you can see it is pretty much a loop that is 9.5 X 5, the loop is my C line. But there is a twist, the center section goes to my A line on the out side passing lane.  C line will support the local gain companies. One will be at the northwest corner that will be feed of the west side, passing spur. Other one will be feed off the A line and will be around where the coal cars are resting.

There is also a reversing, loop. It starts just after the yard and uses part of the A line. Only down side is I will have to use 18 inch turns and # 4 turnouts. That will leave the Big Boy out but with some luck the Y6-b will be able to handle the turnouts.

I will be using a diamond on new sections A, line so it can pass thought the C lines loop and hook to the main bench A line.

Now the part you would not, except. I am modeling the bluffs of Alton IL. So about half of what you see will be under ground. East side yard will be hidden. I will be adding apx 4 inches the bench on the east side. That will also be where the main bench will come into the new sections C line. If you look at the hills by the repair building in the back ground, that will be apx the height of the town of Alton.

Little more than this section will be under Alton.

I have made around 30 test laps around the C line with the SD 40-2 pushing and pull freight. Need to work on the turnouts frogs a little but no real problems.

Working on the railroad again, Cuda Ken.
