Moving Code 83 Snap Switch Motor back...U done it?

Not sure if anyone else has needed to do this, but I would like to avoid reinventing the wheel, so I will ask.

I am moving 5 Atlas Code 83 snap switch motors back from the track a quarter to half inch or so because some longer frame locos still snag them at times.

Atlas Code 100 switches include little replacements part for doing this......but the smaller Code 83 style do not.

Has anyone done this?  What did you use to reconnect the tiny motor throw arm and the switch rod?

I was thinking of just cutting a small bar and adding it as an extension to the switch rod....by gluing it to/on the existing rod and drilling a new hole for the pin on the motor arm.

I don't think I can glue the extension to the motor arm as it needs some rotation and this rotation would be increased as I move further from the original trackside position.

This is the same basic idea, but it's Code 100 with an older-style Atlas machine:

I used a piece of old brass rail, glued right on to the throwbar.  I drilled a small hole into the rail to fit the pin from the switch machine into.  The switch machine is glued to the base.

I did this, by the way, to hide the switch machine.  Here it is under its scenic cover:

Brilliant Mr. Beasley!!!! I'm having said issue with a few code 100 atlas and model power switch machines that are one, in the way, and two, just gawdy!!! Thanks for thinking outside the box for me. Now I won't have to tear out my engine house lead because the switch machine for that turnout is messing up my transfer yard ladder. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
