If you  haven't got a LHS that will give you a good deal on a volume of cork, try one of the shops in MR or RMC, some of them have pretty good prices.  You can deal with most of them online or over the phone.  MRPO comes to mind, but there are others that I'm sure have cork.  Just rermember to figure the price of shipping when comparing price to LHS.  I have also found some god buys at train shows.  Check the events section of MR home site to see if there are going to be any in your area.

Good luck,

I have also heard that the cork roadbed made by Midwest Products is the best available.  I would check the total cost (Cost + S/H) of the roadbed that you need at several of the suppliers advertising in MR or RMC to see where you can get the best overall deal.  If you buy directly from Walthers, you'll be paying full retail price plus S/H unless thay have a special sale on the roadbed at the time of your purchase.

With regard to the Walthers catalog, I stopped buying it in the past because of the cost relative to what I got out of it.  They have significantly reduced the cost of the catalog last year and now it may be worth buying as a reference book.  In the past it seemed like all they did was to take the previous years catalog and put a new cover on it and sell it as new.  Past catalogs listed many items that were not stocked or were no longer even available.  I haven't seen their latest catalog so I can't comment on its content.

My opinion,

Bob
