Locomotive giving trouble. GP40-2 Atlas
Posted by VickyB on Sunday, January 20, 2008 9:36 PM

I have an Atlas GP40-2 that starts chugging when I start it up. Chugging, groaning, moaning but after 3-5 minutes of running on the track it works just fine and will continue to work just fine for as long as I run it.

If I put it away and try it after 30 mins or so (I am assuming after the motor cools down again?) It will do the same thing. Been like this all weekend. Took it apart, checked everything. Not a clue.... any ideas why it does that EVERY time for the first 3-5 mins of starting up and then suddenly starts working like new.

If I stop and start it in the middle of my run, seemingly when the motor is still warm??? it will not chug or groan or moan and will run smooooth.

Any ideas or experience with this strange behaviour?
