no way it could be loop to loop?  Realy looking for that cause I enjoy railfaning as much as I enjoy working on switching cars and working the yard.

rtprimus, i can plan a double deck layout for you, but it would have to be point to pint, 2 foot wide ailses, and it would have one pininsula, would u like me to design it for you? ill do it free of charge, it will be completely free of charge.

I am a poor layout planner as well. What I do is go through all of the track plans that I can get a hold of that are small modules that will be able to operate on their own. (Small switching layouts.) I copy them at the same scale as the room digram that I have drawn. Then just see if they fit, and maybe making a slight modification as necessary. I borrow engine facilities and yards from larger track plans. I use these individual plans as towns along the route.  I usually come up with something that works.  I am planning my current layout this way.

On another note, once you get going/have rolling stock, etc I would like to see it as I am a fan of the N&W RR. 

Modeling the N&W freelanced at the height of their steam era in HO.

Your area and semi-portability requirements sound like they make you a prime candidate for doing a layout in modules.  A lack of large mountains also works in your favor for this.  You could easily do three or four modules, with one being a corner module, and you'd have ease of building (the specs are all laid out for you), the portability you desire, and if you set it up right you could even use a module, or multiple modules, to run with an N-Trak club in the future.  Check out this web site and see if it gives you any ideas: http://www.ntrak.org/ .

well, I have my new space for a layout, but, its a better size area.

Now, The 4 foot long side board table coming off the north wall can be moved another 6 inches or so to the right. Past that, it can go 3 more feet to the right.  South, needs to stop short of the brown cabnet.

 Anyone got any ideas?

ok, let me give you the list of what I would like to have...

Penisula is ok, np with that.  I would like to have one good size yard, steam era.  Modeled off of Crewe Virginia.  Loop is fine, I like to railfan when I run my trains.  2 decks are ok as well.   Staging yard would be nice, but I can do with out. 

Also, this will be for my new place, which is a appartment, so I would like it to be ease to set up and move later and aswell as change the shape of it as needed.  I would enjoy at least 3 feet between any parts I have to walk between.

Are you open to having a penisula? and if so what is the limit off the left hand wall?

Point to point or a loop?

sorry for the bad drawing, but just go by what I listed as the size of the walls.  The drawing was just to give a idea of what the area looked like.

The south wall (bottom of screen) shows 8' with a 2' offset, the north wall (top nof screen) shows 4' BUT the line extends the same distance as the south wall. It would help to know what you actually have and also post a few of your previous attempts so we get an idea of what you had.

ok, just as I said, I am planing my new layout, and keep falling flat.  Every time I try it again, I keep hitting my head into the wall, and that poor wall cant take it much more.  Here is the area I will soon have for my new space...

I am going to be going with N scale, and modeling the N&W RR.  Unlike a lot of other lines on the N&W, I am not going with the mountions, but, going to shoot for the flat lines between Famville and Petersbrug VA.   I have tryed drawing it 8 or more times now, still cant get a working plan.  Anyone out there got any ideas?
