Well, I tried as all of you suggested and the results were thus: there is no color listed for lines, curved, straight or circles: select all won't help me place any lines as it only changes colors of things already drawn. I can do that in the describe objects dialog box: Zandoz gets my undying gratitude. The display options box showed the color layers 'other' box unchecked and when I checked it, the lines came out blue, which is the default color for layer 1. I don't remember unchecking that box. I hope it doesn't do it automatically. Too bad tutorials aren't written for us dummies. Thanks to all. Bob T (another kentuckian)

You didn't do anything wrong...it's just part of the learning curve.  I batteled the same issue getting started.

Reality...an interesting concept with no successful applications, that should always be accompanied by a "Do not try this at home" warning.

Hundreds of years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...But the world may be different because I did something so bafflingly crazy that my ruins become a tourist attraction.

"Oooh...ahhhh...that's how this all starts...but then there's running...and screaming..."

Thanks much, folks. I'll try what you've suggested and see what happens. I wish I knew what I did wrong. Nothing better than being able to keep from screwing up again. Thanks.   Bob T

Look for the "Layers" command...in V 4.0 in the "Manage" menu.  Each layer is assigned a color for objects on that layer.   In the "Display Options" menu there are two check boxes for turning off and on the coloring of tracks and other objects in general.

Try using the select all command under the edit menu.  I just tried this and the white lines change to the selected color "red" when I used the select all command.  Hope this helps.  Atleast this should help you find the lines to change the color setting.  Not sure what you could have done to change them all white though...?

Under the Options menu item is a Colors option (last option on my version 3.1.4). The Colors option should give you various options to change colors for, including Normal Track. Mine is set to black.

I downloaded xtrakcad and was trying it out. I had drawn some straight lines in black. I'm not sure what I did wrong but suddenly every line I drew came out white. It makes doing anything impossible. What did I do wrong? I looked for some way of changing preferences, but I couldn't find anything. Curved, straight, and circles all come out white. When I find the line, the description box shows the color as white, and it can be changed, but it's tough to find and impossible to create anything accurately. Any help? Thanks.   Bob T
