That is good advice.  Mosty trees aren't fully symmetrical, so you may improve its overall appearance by taking small scissors and snipping out chunks of the tufting here and there.  Then spray glue and sprinkle with a medium dark ground foam.  Spray again and cover the first layer with a lighter, maybe finer, ground foam to simulate new growth.  Try it on one, anway, and see if it works for you.

Try hitting it with some spray glue and grass or ground foam.

Looks better than the red and yellow one

BUT: I would make the trunk area more obvious. The branches going stright done look funny. AND I would put some static grass on the tips to simulate needles. If you are after deciduous, then the tree is too ful and it will need leaf foam or leaf material to simulate leaves.

Its a good start, maybe the best you have done, but maybe not the best you will ever do. Practice does improve one's tree making.

If you think you have it right, your standards are too low. my photos http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a235/ARTHILL/ Art
