Yes, I like kapton tape.....it is very handy and high techy....the 1 mil withstands temps up to 500 degrees F....and it can be obtained in forms that withstand 500 degrees C, not that we hobbiests need that.
And I also like to order lots of things from Bruce and Linda at Litchfield station.....but I find many of the little accessories like this can be had much cheaper at specialty sites. I get the oval speakers at half the price of some online HSs.
But I haven't found an online shop for low cost kapton tape and tiny diameter shrink tubing that will ship in small orders like 2 or 3 rolls. Several sites sell 36 yards of 1/2" kapton tape for $6 or $7 but have a minimum order etc. of $50 or so (and a min $1000 for international orders at kapton.com). With that much kapton tape I could put up the Xmas lights on the house.
Anyone have a good source for these two items?
Mouser Electronics at http://www.mouser.com has Kapton tape by the roll and lots of heat shrink tubing, but Kapton tape is going to be a very expensive item no matter where you purchase it. I use plain electrical tape or duct tape for the Christmas lights instead of wasting Kapton.
Mouser calls Kapton tape Polyimide Film Wave Solder Tape 5413, and it is $29.95 for a 1/2 inch x 36 yard roll, or $47.00 for a 3/4 inch x 36 yard roll, plus shipping.
Well, I guess I will have to figure out a way to order it from kalptontape.com. It is far cheaper.... $5.98 to $9.98 for 36 yards, but the minimum order is $50 or else it will be a $20 shipping fee. Maybe I will get together with someone to take advantage of this far cheaper price than you mention.
(not promoting a dealer here...just illustrating the dealer and price..perhaps someone has ordered from these people???)
