Thanks guys, Here's the summer shot in black and white.

Straight color to grayscale conversion:

It has the feel, but not quite the power of black and white.

Here it is again with the tone curves tweaked to better represent true black and white film.

I like the richness and greater "color" range in the second one.

Steam on the Bourbon River Sub (layout pics)
Posted by nbrodar on Thursday, December 13, 2007 11:06 AM

There is a stranger on the Bourbon River Sub today.  Norfolk and Western J Class 611 has strayed onto the Anthracite Speedway.

611 rolling across Barger Run on the summer portion of my layout:

611 charging out of Gindin Tunnel on the autumn section:

All the smoke and steam effects were done in camera with cotton batting.   I also plan to converte the pics to black and white and see what I can do with them.
