I ran across these two devices in the Walthers Catalog last night and wondered if anyone is using them.
I have been trying to figure out a way to auto-throw some turnouts in response to a block detection. [see previous post DC Auto-throw of turnouts, help please for more details]
the jest is I want to detect an oncoming train and set the turnout for the train. I realize if its already set for the train, it will buzz and stay put, not a problem. I will also set detection on the other track incoming to the turnout to set for that line, (its a double slip switch actually, but we don't need to go there, really) IMHO I have valid reasons for doing this, even though it may seen a bit silly, so trust me on that if you will, I will say a six year old is somewhat involved.
For your information BTW I'm DC/HO using PECO turnouts and motors (PL-10 with PL-13 attached) and technically challenged (pretty badly challenged).
So does anyone have any experience with these or similar items to detect traffic and throw a twin coil motor. These seem promising, but before I even think of chunking that kind of change at the problem, I'd like to hear if it might work, or if there is a cheaper work around, other than paying attention to the traffic on my layout that is. LOL
thanks very much for your assistance and patients with the technically challenged. I have order serveral older electronics for model railroad books, but they ain't here yet.
