They don't seem to be putting layouts from past issues in the database. I don't think MR online existed in 1992 when that was published. as each new issue of MR comes out, the track plans in it are added.

How come the track plan for the Cripple Creek Central isn't in the subscriber track plan database? I'm actually building it and want to make a few modifications, so I would like to have a separate printable copy to do a little sketching on......

Whew! I'm glad that it's all contained in one book.
Thanks Andy.

Hello Jacob,

The book you want is "HO Railroad From Start to Finish," by Jim Kelly. It's available at hobby shops and on the shopping section of this Web site. See http://store.yahoo.com/kalmbachcatalog/12121.html

The Cripple Creek Central was the subject of a department that Jim conducted in MODEL RAILROADER called "Especially for Beginners." As you found, it ran for about two years, and each installement covered some addition to the layout.

Good luck with your new railroad,

Andy

Cripple Creek Central RR Articles

Hi all!
After many years on hiatus from Model Railroading, I've decided to unpack all my MR stuff and introduce my kids to the world's greatest hobby!

I pulled out an old copy of MR (Nov. '92) and happened upon an article on 'how to operate a small layout realistically'. The layout it refers to is the Cripple Creek Central and appears to be a whole series spanning two years (91-92).
This little 4X8 project is exactly what I'm looking to do.

My question is, has this series of articles been put into a book or will I have to track down all those back issues? My library holds only the last 10 yrs worth and MR's Back Issue Link shows some missing issues in the 91-92 range.

That said, all I can say is WOW!! Lots of new stuff to get caught up on. DCC control packs!?! (I've got a pair of ancient MRC ControlMaster Xs) and Athearn makes an SD-40-2!!!! (and in SOO colors too!!!) no more kitbashing 'em anymore! (I haven't been to a hobby store in 24 years)

Thanks for reading and let me know if there's a comprehensive way that I could get the Cripple Creek Central RR series.

Later All and happy modeling!
