Hi!

I've got a video series on Youtube on making scenery using extruded foam.

If you are interested you can check it out here:   www.youtube.com/thebige61

Hey! It's The Big E! Welcome to the forums! Sign - Welcome [#welcome] I've got to say your videos are very helpful. At first I was going to use woodland scenics al around for my layout. But after watching your videos (and looking up other forms of layout building...) I am going to use open grid benchwork with the extruded foam. I just have two questions for you, since you mentioned the hotwire foam cutter in the first video, I assume that is doesn't emit toxic fumes when cut through with such a tool? And also, did you use open grid benchwork or did you lay the track & cork right on the foam? (though I did see plywood under the track...)

There's 3/4 inch plywood under the track (which is probably a bit overkill for N Scale).  The fumes on the cutter are minimal but then again I did not use it that much.  I wasn't really a "high end" cutter....

Check these pages out to give you and Idea of how I did the framework, Roadbed, and initial laying of the foam blocks.
