I believe Soundtraxx are the only folks currently making a Baldwin sound decoder - they didn't sound like 1st Gen GM products.
Horns would be up to the RR. When new most first gen diesels had single 'blat' horns, but many had multi-horn set-ups added later (say in the sixties). Course the VO-1000's I grew up seeing were on the MN&S and had Hancock air-whistles, which sounded like steam engine whistles!!

As I mentioned elsewhere, The LOK Sound is great for the V)-1000. You do have to modify one of the weights, but it not horrible. The guy who owns a layout I operate on has two of them. Great runners.

Ron,
I have a Stewart VO-660 and a Proto 2000 S1. My guess is that, because of the lack of dead space in the enclosure, installing sound into your VO-1000 is NOT going to be a minor endeavor. It's possible that you might have to pull the cab interior to make room for the speaker. Along with Soundtraxx, a LokSound decoder might also be a good alternative sound decoder for you, too.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
I have a Stewart Baldwin VO-1000 that I'm looking to put a motor and sound decoder in. What would be the right "sound" for that engine, a 1st gen diesel w/ one horn? I looked at the Soundtraxx decoder and it looks good, are there others out there that would be better?
Thanks
