Hi guys
looking at some of the pictures I wonder what happnd to the paint the table green or brown and the cork road bed grey with a strip of brown beside it before the track was laid trick.
Instant improvement before any scenery is made.
Flat earth modeling is more challanging I think because it takes more thought to get it right.
You still need hills[?] its just that they are only the thickness of three may be
four layers of packing box card board high instead of measured in inches.
I try and have flat earth and some thing a bit more dramatic as well
but then I like making scenery.
I recon start small sized with the layout then you got time to do the finiky fussy bits like rabits and foxes or what ever the local wild life is flat earth don't have to be boring
thats my two cents worth
Regards John

John,

I remember doing that when I first started. Now it's a quick coat of tan paint and some Woodland Scenics blended turf or earth., but the idea's the same.

Hi Nick
I still do it that way but then the scenery I do is usualy
green and pleasant lands. so green or brown underneath is just right
