What about wireless do you want to know? Most of the better DCC systems offer a wireless option. The walk around throttles use RF (radio for the uninitiated!)to communicate with a receiver which IS tethered to the command station. You acquire the train you wi***o operate with the wireless throttle (process varies by brand of DCC system, for example with EasyDCC you dial up the locmotive on the walkaround unit and go. With Digitrax you have to plug the unit in to acquire the locomotive)and then operate it without the need to plug and unplug as you move around the layout. Without wasting space of technical stuff, that is how wireless works! I'm sure many on this forum can supply a lot of additional information for you. Good luck! And...ENJOY!!!
