Palomino TSL Turntable
Posted by Tom Bryant_MR on Sunday, May 8, 2022 7:57 AM

Good morning all. Update real quick before headed out for the mother's day celebrating.

I've placed the 12" turntable at the end of the Taylor peninsula. Also, below the layout pict is a present day picture of the yard under construction in Taylor today.

General plan is for train coming in is to drop consist into one of the sidings, swing around in the turntable, exiting TT out the other siding and collect consist from "yard" tracks, hold in place until time to return to Smithville.

[

Taylor yard description is to serve as:

"unit train and manifest rail-served park providing switching, transload and storage services"

Thanks all comments and suggestions.

Gidday Tom, I’m liking how your layout plans are evolving, but I wish you had kept to just one thread!

I find multiple threads by one person on the same topic, not only irritating in that flicking from one thread to another to be able to compose meaningful advice or, hopefully, constructive criticism, or even just encouragement, a time-wasting exercise and extremely frustrating!

Please feel completely free to ignore my rant, and Have Fun.
Cheers, the Bear.Smile

Hi there. I looked at the plan. If you like collecting rolling stock, then that plan will meet your needs as it will store a lot of cars. I would build a smaller yard and keep the space for scenery and some industries, and perhaps two passenger stations (one at each end).

JaBear, thanks for your inputs. I like your recommendation of keeping to a single thread. Everything specifically about the layout track plan and operations could be kept in a single thread, a single topic.

I'll try it out.

Thanks, Tom

Thanks Simon. Always good when other eyes provide different perspectives. Forum is great for that.

Truth be told the Smithville yard is a copy paste from a layout years ago that was much larger. So revision is in order! Stay tuned and thanks again. Tom
