Does anybody know if the Kato wye turnout is fine as is out of the package or does it require the same modifications as with the #4 turnout? I am planning on using one for a small industrial park off my main line.
What modifications does a Kato #4 turnout need in N scale?
I have been 100% happy with all of my Kato products in both HO and N scale for decades.

I do not remember any comments about this issue at all.
I would not be worried about the quality of any Kato product. That is one brand I would trust fully.
Agreed. Despite what I have heard about #4 turnouts, the ones I have so far have not caused any problems. My current layout that I'm building is the first using Unitrak. While some may make the arguement for more realistic C55, you can't beat the reliabilty of Kato track and if you factor the cost of switch machines with regular turnouts, the switches are actually more affordable. Durability is another factor considering that the layout is designed in sections to allow me to take it with me if I every decide to move.
