Kadee Couplers
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, December 20, 2004 9:45 AM
I am considering useing Kadee #58 couplers on my future car and loco acquisitions as opposed to the # 5s. However I allready have rolling stock equipped with the #5s
.
My question is; Am I headed for problems by mixing the two scales of couplers? I might add that I do have a loop for watching trains (grand kids) but my primary interest is in operatons.

Any thoughts?

The only difference is some small changes in dimensions to make the #58 head closer to scale size. They are both the same "scale" and are both compatible.

I started switching to #58's about a year ago with good success, the only problem is you cannot buy them in bulk like the #5's. I contacted Kadee about this and they said they have no intentions of selling bulk at this time.
Being old is when you didn't loose it, it's that you just can't remember where you put it.

I'm sorry about the use of scale instead of size.

Thank you for your input.

I use 58's and 5's together with no problems. Probably the biggest drawback is that the 58's make the 5's look too big....
