I take it that the guy at the electronics store was quick to criticize your work and offered no help. Radio Shack use to have "Engineeer's Mini-Notebooks" on optoelectronics circuits (part #276-5012) but they no longer sell them, at least on line. Maybe one of their stores would have one. The best I can do recommend some books or you can e-mail me with a address to snail mail you some photo copies of circuits from my books (sorry I don't have a scanner). Click on the book title. He has other electronic "How To" titles.
