FYI Magnus: Here in the states "carpets" generally cover a floor from wall to wall and are fixed in place. "Rugs" are less than room size and are usually removable.

I use runners (long narrow rugs) in the aisleways and left the area under the layout bare, (my floor is concrete sealed with epoxy paint). In your case I would seal the wood floor with some kind of heavy-duty floor paint. If you hang a curtain under the layout you won't see the bare floor (or all the junk that will accumulate under there). I have a small rug (18'x24") that I use under to lay on when I'm working under the layout.

For the curtain I use ground cover cloth (to prevent weeds from growing through), it's black and quite cheap.

Thanks for clearing it up for me. I truly apreciate when you guys tell me these things since sometimes I can get things mixed. Then it is rugs I should perhaps put in the aisles and let the rest of the floor just be painted.

Unless otherwise mentioned it's HO and about the 50's. Magnus
