I have been in HO model railroading for over 10 years. I model the New Haven railroad and the Chicago & Northwestern, around 1959, but pretty much use a fleelance approach to scenery. What I do is put out all the New Haven stuff for around a year or so and then I "switch" magically to the C&NW. My scenery is such that it can represent the C&NW in Chicago or the New Haven in Boston. I really don't have any other hobbies but we enjoy watching DVD's, especially during those long, cold days of winter here in the Northeast.
