I started my model railroading on November 2007. Since my early days through the 70s, my family and I made great use of passenger trains. From the 80s on intercity/interstate passenger trains began to be progressively deactivated in Brazil. Currently, there are a fewer passenger trains still in operation, with the exception of subways and other types of metropolitan trains in the largest cities. There are some historical railroads (steamers) still in operation for touristic purposes. The first time I saw a model railroad was in the early 60s. However, only from November 2007 I began on model railroading. I am currently building my third model railroad (~8 X 4). In Brazil, model railroading has never been a tradition so there aren’t so many model railroaders here as there are in the US and Europe. Here, there is only one model train factory that produces Brazilian models (HO scale only) of locomotives, passenger cars, and freight cars that were used in the past along with those ones in currently use. Tracks, turnouts, turntables, and model buildings are also produced here.
