Hi Ryan,

My club had that very set up working at our holiday display at a local botanic garden. I do not know all the particulars but it used all LGB products. I do know their were magnetic switches on the tracks tripped by magnets in the loco. Once set up, the automated system ran flawlessly 12 hours a day for 7 weeks.

Hi,

I'm new to the world of Railroading. Finally got a house (I live in Singapore) with a large enough Garden for a meaningful layout.

At the moment, the layout is simple. A single large oval, with two passing sidings, and two more "dead end" sidings planned for the near future. In total, I have about 6 switches. I doubt my garden will take much more track.

I currently run a basic analog layout with the LGB 5A transformer and throttle, with a LGB Mogul and LGB "Heidi". I am beginning to want to expand into more "complicated" areas like isolated track blocks and signals etc. This will probably allow about three trains to be on the layout at any time, although I probably do not aim to have any more than two running simultaneously.

My question is this: I eventually aim to move into some form of analog automation, probably starting with the simple idea of one training pulling into the station, slowing down and stopping, while the other train pulls out of the station from the other siding, gently (realistically) accelerating away.

I have tried to seach the internet for manufacturers of analog devices such as timers, station stops and "intertia" devices for garden railway setups. Unfortunately I have not been able to find many options for a ready-made device.

Do such devices exist "off the shelf" for an analog garden railway? I really do want to try my hand at the skills of basic model railroading before considering a move into DCC / Digital.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction in terms of manufacturers or on-line stores / retailers of such products.
