RbFSRWy Shops Produce first car

Great little 'boose Tom. Nice layout pics too. I'll have to spend a little time to look through them. But only 20 bucks, that's just cruel! You should of went for the Connie though .

The first piece of new equipment has just pulled out of the fabrication shop for the Rosebud Falls Scenic Railways.  According to Douglas Flatbottom President and CEO of the RbFSRWy this caboose will be the first of a long line of equipment to be locally produced.  Mr. Flatbottom said that within the next few weeks several log cars will be fabricated here at our local shops.  The first should pull from the shop at the end of the month, with one or two more cars per month after that.  Mr. Flatbottom stated that the only foreseeable shortage problem would be acquiring the axles and wheels, as RbFSRWy has no plans to construct a foundry at this time.

On the serious side, this year for my birthday the wife gave me three days of The Big Train Show in Ontario.  The San Diego GRR tour, the Saturday build a bobber caboose clinic by Ozark Miniatures, and two days in the show, (one by myself with the proviso that I spend no more than $20, and then Sunday with her, as she wanted to look into purchasing a forest and some people.)  The tour in San Diego was a very pleasant experience, observing four different GRR's.  

The builders clinic was fun, when they started they said "we guarantee you will be successful today."  I ask them if they were sure that they were going to make the class "me proof" and he asked what is me proof, and I said that my wife has forbidden me to use the phrase "idiot proof". They said yes!  The class went well and I did learn a few things.  Then during the construction they said "now those of you who are not going to detail the interior of the caboose you can glue the roof on next:  I did not realize it at that point in time but that is when they failed in making it 'me proof".  I'm sitting there thinking "no, I'm not yet into detailing the interiors yet, so I guess I glue the roof on."

Then I went over to the convention center to look at all the goodies.  I was quite proud of myself, resisting buying everything in sight.  Then I turned the corner and walked into the Gold Coast Display.  Bachmann "Connie's" for $199 and "Annie's" for $119.  I was a good boy for a few minutes, and walked away, went back over to Ozark Miniatures, and within 3 minutes was back at Gold Coast, drooling like a kid in a candy shop, took out the cell phone, saw I had only one bar of antenna so I went outside and debated.  No I had promised not to spend more than $20.  Went back into the show and looked around a bit more.  On the fifth time outside looking at the phone I called the wife and obtained permission to spend.  (I wish I had had my camera ready when I got home with it and she saw the size of the box that the "Annie" was in.)  Anyway, as per her instructions as soon as I paid for the "Annie" I walked out to the ruck and started the trip back home.  When I turned onto I-15 South, I looked down at the caboose and realized, How the devil am I going to paint the inside with the roof glued on!!!!!!  I quickly pulled over at the next off ramp, but, no luck the glue was completely set and there was no way to take it off with just my pocket knife.  But I did learn a big lesson at that point in time.
