Okay, I'm probably OTL. But that looks like a well bucket used for 'driven and cased' wells. You let it down, weight of water kept the bottom mechanism closed, you pulled it up, swung it over your bucket or whatever and pulled up on a chain I don't see shown. Haven't seen one since about 50 years, and that was in the Ozarks and maybe was entirely not what you're showing.

I have no clue and would like to know what this is and what it was used for.
Seems to be 30" tall and the hole at the bottom comes up then when released it closes. Any clues?
