Shorter stack?
What kind?

Straight stack is the shortest, I think cabbage is next, Ely-Thomas with hinged screen is next, the BIG one is the Pardee-Curtin style.

No-one around here even bothers with those. Won't fit tunnels and some bridges.

I have the same problem -I need a shorter stack.  Did you try to get one from Bachmann Uk or US?

Just want to say thank you to curmudgeon. We are switching stacks and I can't wait to put the new one on.

Best thing to do is to email Curmudgeon and tell him what stack you are looking for and you two can then swap.  It will probably be the easiest and fastest way.  Otherwise you may spend hours and hours on the internet looking for one stack.

There is NO chance of getting a converion from Bachmann, all I can surjest you look round for a g gauge show and see if there is an old loco for spares. Thats all I can think of

Ask!

Some came with multiple stacks.

You need to specify which one.

There is a "cabbage stack", a "Pardee-Curtin" style that is too tall to fit under most tunnels, and the "Ely-Thomas" style that has a hinged screen on top.

I think I have most.

I am short of straight stacks.

e-mail me and maybe we can swap.

New bachmann shay question
Posted by jcgisel on Monday, April 30, 2007 1:54 PM
I am mostly in to ho stuff but am planning a around the wall layout in G scale. I have a lot of questions about that, but I 'll start with this one. My wife got me a new bachmann three truck shay and it came with a streight smokestack. I would like to change it to a big round one. Any ideas on where to start?
