I would really help if you could tell us the manufacturer and model of the locos (or at least a picture). Also what switches/track are you using? Some switches need to be modified to work their best. Also check to make sure you track and swiches are level and free of debris.

Hi Brian, My engine is a IHC Pennsylania Lines 2 8 0 #7748 I can not find my other one
The track I use is code 83. The switches are #6 and 1 #4 does that matter?
The track and switches are even. I test the track with a car and no problems with it.
I was so mad I took of the front wheels.
Roger is right, you'll probably get better advice over on the model railroader boards. I have been out of the HO biz for awhile now. Weight or a stiffer spring on the pilot truck might do the trick though. Also check on the gauge of the pilot wheels (the width of the wheels). I have a couple of large scale 2-8-0's and the pilot truck wheels often get too wide and cause derailments.
