covered bridge pier
Posted by chuckshobby on Thursday, April 12, 2007 10:06 PM

I want to place a covered bridge in my garden railroad. I need some ideas as to make just cement piers or try to make some sort of stone piers for the type of bridge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe a few issues back in Garden Railways there was an article about building bridge abutments.  Is this what you're looking for?  Or are you looking for the piers which would support the bridge in the center.

If you're referring to abutments, we have an online article here:

Sugestion by me is Jigstones.com , stable base then you can either make walls all stone and wood covered roof or just a stone base and upper wood cover.

Stone abutments would look the best. A center pier is not needed in most case's since the bridge is short. But if you made your own and it is longer then the standard kit or pre-built then stone would look best for a center pier.

The head is gray, hands don't work , back is weak, legs give out, eyes are gone, money go's and my wife still love's Me.

Thankyou for all your ideas on the bridge abutments. Able to use some old cap stone stood on end giving it an old look. Thanks again for all the ideas.
