As far as MTS, I cannot help you. Maybe you could use one of the 8amp decoders from MRC or take out one motor from each power block in the Dash.

As far as R/C, Aristo has a decent system that is pretty cheap. If you want something a little nicer and have the $$, look into Airwire 900 by CVP, the Locolinc system, or Remote Control Sytems of New England.

The LGB decoder most likely will not be powerful enough for conversion unless you use one for each power truck.

Better way is Masoth makes a higher powered unit, but I do not know if it is MTS capable.

I have SD-45's and if I chose DCC or MTS, i would look at a minimum of 4 amps per engine, but I would prefer 5 amps to allow for some margin of error.

The Dash-9 is much like the SD-45 and the stall current is over the MTS 5xx27 3 amp limit.

Easiest possible way to convert to MTS on my SD-45 would be to shut off the motor switch inside and wire the MTS unit across the motor switch.  Now you could turn the motor switch on and have a normal Dash9, or shut the motor switch off and have MTS.  WHat do others think of this?

Aristocraft makes a 75mhz receiver rated at 3 amps and under a heavy load, many engines trip the receiver electronic breaker and to keep it cool, a fan was added by some consumers.  This is why I feel 5 amps is a much better way to go.

Is this possible? Has anyone converted any other type mfg engines to MTS decoders? Any other Dash 9's easier to convert? I love my MTS but want newer type diesels LGB does not make. OR... where is best source to convert one of these to R/C (cheapest) I want to use the maintenence free sealed lead acid batteries, I work in Motorcycle industry and have superb sources for access to these.

thanks,
