Here is a site that shows them on several different rail lines. I first discovered them as part of the Lakeside & Marblehead in Ohio.

This link I got from the eBay listing....very informative and it's got a detailed diagram....might be just what I need to scratch build!

I think all garden model railways should have one of these types of things. I only run European stuff and i would like a "rail motor" type thing myself but they are very expenisve for what they are; considering all my stuff has a decoder and sound.

I haven't seen one made by any of the manufacturers yet not in G anyway. I've thought abotu scratchbuilding one but it's going to easily be at least a year before I can get to it. Find the Nevada State Railroad Museum's web sire and have a look around there. They are restoring one right now.
Does anyone make one of these?
Ready to run or kit? Or have any of you ever scratchbuilt one?
