I know it was built out of two observation car ends I have the sneaking suspision the prototype was a inanimate object.
As for the model I think treating it as iether a fun thing or as an inspection car of some sort for operational purposes sounds like a good idea

I saw the picture of the "eggliner" office, One rr took two observation cars, cut the ends off and fastened them together to make a trackside office. Someone at Aristo thought it would make a nice novelty car. I'm putting one on an automatic 'out and back' one track trolly line

Who is Uncle Lewis, is he anything like my old uncle Harry Jarvis, who's main claim to fame was that he got struck by lighting twice and lived to tell the tale. This does not contradict the axiom than lighting never strikes in the same place twice; as he was in two different places when he was struck.

That's what they are, spoofs.
Of course wicked tongues could say it is a NorthAmerican attempt at efficient passenger transportation on rails. The ultimate in Eggliner transportation would be the possibility to splice in one or two coaches in the center.[:o)][;)][:o)]

When I saw an "egg-liner" for the first time, I thought, "you gotta be kiddin!". But, wouldn't you know that I recently saw a picture of a prototype "egg-liner". Of course I can't remember where but it was probably at myLargescale.com or such. I searched the pages of GR and couldn't find it. I know I saw it, so keep looking. Maybe someone with a less advanced case of Alzheimer's can direct you.

What the heck is/was a Egg Liner? Was it real or...? If it is real, and you know of a web link or book that discusses it, much appreciated.
