Milwaukee -- The Domes
Posted by Tom The Brat on Monday, February 19, 2007 11:27 AM

It's me, Torby. I seem to have lost track of my old screen name, so you'll have to contend with Tom The Brat from now on.

Larry and Evelyn Tennyson told me there was a train layout in "The Domes" in Milwaukee. Aside from all the construction, it's only about an hour from here, so I went Sunday Afternoon.

Admission is $5 and there was no parking fee.

The conservatory builds the layout every winter and local modelers provide the trains and keep them running.

I haven't heard any reports of visitors falling over the wall and being mauled by wild trains.

A walkway runs around the track area. It's definitely a train-in-the-garden theme.

Pink!

A lifelong model railroader. His mom says he's been fascinated by trains since age 3.

They'd decorated with a cartoon character theme. I rather identify with StitchEvil [}:)]

I'll stop now.

This layout will stay through March 18, then they'll change this dome to the Spring show. The trains turned the conservatory's profitless winter season into their most attended season for several years going, so they'll likely be back next winter.
