Phoenix sound - How hard iis it?

Yes Curmy it was over a dispute with a supplier and i won in the end, i think he (the supplier) was used to dealing with commercially inexperienced and unknowing people and he found us (my wife and I) a bit of a nasty shock.

Do you know much about the LGB 20970 and fitting a Phoenix European diesel sound system to it.

As long as you buy the non-provided software and cable assembly, no problem.

Funny, the folks who have always screamed that Sierras you needed to buy a remote volume control (even though the volume control was on the board), but with this one rtailing at over $100 more, and then requiring a close to $80 software kit, well......

 I have done many. I grabbed one off the shelf for an FA, and until I had a chance to update, we has chuffs, air pumps, blowdown, and steam whistle on an FA.

There is a procedure to place jumpers into certain terminals and power up to change things, but I have never gotten that to work satisfacorily.

Make sure you put the port in an accessible location. so you don't have to tear the loco apart to program it.

Court case.

I'll tell ya, the problems some folks seem to have with voltage, pickup, suppliers, shipments, and now court cases.......

It comes with a din type connector when you buy, with the soft ware from supplier it should come with a usb to din lead. check with your local supplier or contact pheonix direct I have always found them to be very helpful

I had one for a brief time and it eventually become part of a court case, but from the instructions i read and the short time i had it; it is pretty easy, just move jumper wires around. Didn't try to do it myself though.

I had trouble programming it to the loco when i wanted to change addresses but wouldn't blame the sound system, more the installers. Funny thing you have to do it twice, once for the loco and once for the sound. 

I was no where near as knowledgable then as i am now and i would not hesitate to buy another Phoenix  system , in fact i intend too and i am convinced they are anmnong the best you can get. My only argument with them is most of their sounds are American and i run European trains, although teir European sounds are good there aint many of them.

How difficult is it to reprogram the sound on a 2K2 Phoenix sound board from one type locomotive to another type? Does the board have the plug for the computer interface built in, so that all you need to do is plug in the cable to the board and computer, and reprogram?  I would like to be able to use the same sound board in a trail car with steam, FAs, U-25s, SD-45s, etc.
