This can be done a number of ways but don't forget you need to deactivate tham too.
Trackside contacts, magnetic reed switches or detection devices; is your layout bi directional like mine, if so you may be restricted to detection devices!

I wired a crossing light, for an associate of mine, using the RamTrack light activated switch RAM117. The price appears to be reasonable. Other than a satisfied customer, I have no other affiliation with this dealer.

The crossbuck was originally fitted with 16V incandescent "flashers" which we replaced with 5mm super bright LEDs and the required 1k series resistors. Power for accessories on this particular layout being from a small 12V car battery.
