With lights the flickering is not good, as it is annoying and will shorten the bulb life considerably. However with sound, if you lose power the sound system will reset itself and you really don't want start up sounds when you are going along!

OK, thanks for the info. I was wondering if it was important to use 2 pickup wheels when one will do the job (at half the price!). The reason I began this project is that I ended up with a few sets of these wheels and thought I could spread them out by using one set on each car... its a great system but costly. If flickering is the only problem, it may be worth it for now.
Until I get it together to install 2 sets of these things on each car (maybe when I win the lottery), Im still looking for alternative connectors between cars... there must be something out there....
for now,
D.
I have not used the Aristo ones but on this forum a lot has been said against them, high drag unrelaible connections etc.
Incidentally with the LGB ones, i have found it not sufficient to have only one axle connected up to anything (lights or sound), as one connection is too unreliable, ie flickering etc.

Aristo Craft kit "ART- 29402"
is a kit of four carbon brush wheel power pick up.
The female connectors for the mail terminals on LGB axles usually come with the wheel set when you buy them.
If you do not have them and you do have the wheels, the female connectior is a very simple tube with a crimp section about 15 mm long (bit over 1/2"). Take your wheels with you to an elctronic compomemnt retailer such as Tandy or similar and they will be able to help you.
If you do this you will not need any connectors between carriages.
Im wanting to wire up some interior lights for my LGB cars and I need the type of connectors used with electrical contact wheels. I havent seen these anywhere amongst LGB accessories.
I also would like to look into alternative power connectors between trains but dont know where to find such things. Im not that impressed with the current 'flat' type as they have a rather cumbersome double-socket that hangs between the cars. Is there any other alternative than the red/blue plug system?
I bought a drovers caboose with a beautiful interior lighting rig that included the lanterns on the back.. is there a kit available such that I could install the same in my unlit cabooses? I havnt found a seperate lighting kit for lanterns, so it looks like I may have to buy the whole lantern itself.
With Thanks
Dan
