Sorry about that Ben,

Is this font better?    I only used my buildings on a temporary basis outdoors, but still had to really saturate them with paint and sealers, as our climate in FL is very humid, and this wood is very questionable in quality.   At one time (when they were very popular) there was a much larger variety as well as a couple of other views, but these have gone by the wayside in our part of the country.   Do you use a special paint?

Elaine (RQ)      P.S. How do you upload pictures?

I have used the bird houses last year out side with my train lay out ,I did stain some of them , like i said i spray 3 coats of clear on the houses . the printing you are useing looks like it's running together or it's my eyes ,i do have a  problem with them.

Jaime

thanks for the research on the bird  houses,  SRS 4501 will like to know their are other craft stores carrying them to ,but i liked the log cabins , the water tower is made from a round bird house .   thanks JAIME

Here is Michaels web site:

http://www.michaels.com/art/online/search?pageNumber=1&channel=0&search=yes&keywords=bird&type=0

I did a search on "birds" to get the bird houses.

There are a couple other Arts and Crafts chain stores out there that have pretty much the same type of product line. I have even seen bird houses and feeders like this at Ace and other hardware stores.  So there may be several options if you are not near a Michaels.

Thank you, Jaime

Hi Ben,

I'm new at this forum, as of today, but I loved seeing your new buildings, as I have done MANY of them myself... One question: do you plan on using them outdoors?  I left most of mine in the dark wood color so they would always keep their "log cabin" look.   Lately I've been more interested in having them hold up outside, so painted them additionally with Marine Spar, AND my new concept is turning all of my buildings into "vignettes"...   E.

Great looking buildings there Ben.  I think I'd like some of those for my layout.  Tell me more about "Michales."  Do they have a web-site?

I especially like the water tower.

I'd really have to agree with that Ben. The kits I buy cost more than that for an outhouse. I'm glad you've found a way to put buildings on your line for a small amount. The $40.00 in gas it would cost me to go to Michael's pretty much negates any cost saving of using those buildings for me.

I have 7 new ones from this year and 5 that i refinished from last year, i can't buy the wood and make them for $4.00 a piece,  i watch when Micheal's crafts have them on special and buy them , I AM watching their add again   so i can buy a few more on special.   BEN

Ben,

I like your buildings.  They remind me of some houses in my area.  There are several ponds near by that had several "groves" with small "camp houses" used for summer vacations. Some have been converted to larger and year round houses but you can still see the original look they had.

Thank you, Jaime
