OK, here's a chance for all you "Told you so's" to get your licks in.
That beautiful 4-6-0 Bachman engine I ordered through e-bay appears to be "lost in shipment." Anyway since posting the picture of it and getting all excitied because it was such a good price and all, turns out I've dropped 113.00, which cleared the bank on Dec 28th, but have nothing to show for it.
The big dummy I ordered it from keeps telling me USPS won't even fill a claim until it goes over 60 days. It was to ship from Maryland to Tennessee but alast, has not..............
Naturally I have issued a "complaint" with e-bay and they will see what can be done.
So, "IF IT SEEMS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT PROBABLY IS."
The whole thing has had me in the "dumps" lately and that is why haven't been on the forum too much. It does feel good however to have a place to "vent" a little. Thanks for reading...
FR: LEARNED HIS LESSON !!!!!
I feel your pain. I'll give you a digital shoulder to cry on if that will help.
I lost over $200 on ebay because of Paypal and all the problems it creates. Sometimes you get a dishonest seller, but that is what the feedback ratings are designed to help control. I don't buy from anybody with less than 100% good feedback, and I deal only in money orders for payment, shipping with tracking as well. Still you get burned every so often. CAVEAT EMPTOR.

that e-mail you sent me that their was some HERSHEY CARS on evel bay and i said i DON'T BUY THEIR , my son in law had a bad experance with them . i'll deal through a dealer. BEN
let me understand this.
The guy ships it, USPS loses it (for now), and it's the shipper's fault?
Might be, but, if you've got a insurance tag number, they'll find it, and it's 30 days.
I've had two go awry to Canada, called my local Postmaster, who tracked the number, found when it crossed into Canada, they called the Canadian Postal folks and asked where to send the bill for them to pay on the insurance.
One was delivered the next day, one the same day.
They did NOT want to pay.
So, if the guy did not insure it, and has no insurance tag number, yes, he's got a problem.
Contact him, tell him 30 days, have him ive the insurance tracking nuber to his postmaster.
Now, some postamsters are idiots, and won't help at all, happens.
But, if YOU asked for "cheap" shipment without insurance, well......
The apparent regularity with which these stories appear formulate the exact reason why I prefer not to use these electronic methods of fleecing people!
I much prefer using a business where I can keep a paper trail such as checks and receipts, tracking numbers, and the like to substantiate any claims and difficulties.
I refuse to do E-Bay! Seems to me that they have bent over backward to make sure the seller gets his money, yet do as little as possible to ensure that the buyer gets a fair shake!
I'm sure that there are many sellers/dealers there who will perform as they say, but there are a lot who have no intention of meeting any standards; so I'll pay a bit more to do business with a reputable firm.

Many thanks everyone. This seller has a 97% positive feedback on e-bay. I purchase from him in confidence as it seemed he was very reputable.
USPS is also usually very reliable. It is my understanding that all packages shipped through their parcel service are automaticlly insured up to 100.00, so no additional insurance was asked for nor recommended by me or the seller. This seller has not yet proven the product actually did ship. He has not even given me a date it supposely went out.
I think he is un-happy with the low price his auction brought and has never shipped it at all. I suspect he will offer me my money back as a way to settle the dispute and to get e-bay off his back.
Once a "complaint" is opened on a seller, he has 10 days in which to resolve the matter. If he does not, and I'm not quite sure what "resolve the matter" means, e-bay will turn the complaint over to their "buyer protection committee" for review. If the situation merits they will initiate a refund to the buyer that comes direct from e-bay. I guess they have ways of collecting from the seller later.
The 10 days is up Feb 5th. So we shall see what happens.
I don't think this will stop me from watching e-bay auctions. I have purchased other items with no problems what so ever. I will excercise a little more caution next time that is for sure....
This may turn out to be a good thing for me in the long run because now, it will make me re-think my choice of trains and rolling stock to begin with.
Best regards to everyone and thanks for the responces.
Never was a fan of Evil Bay...you never know who you are dealing with.........I'd rather pay the regular price at a local hobby shop......
Hope you get your train or money back!!

UPS has a $100 coverage.
Unless you purchase insurance, USPS has zilch.
If you didn't ask for it, and have the tag number for them to trace the package (all $51 or more insurance tags are scanned at each postal location they go through), you're SOL.
Next time, don't do it on the "cheap" with no insurance.
Don't be to sure you have lost it and that you will not eventually get it.
What the bloke said about waiting 60 days to make a claim, could well be correct; as i too have had an item lost in USPS air. and i had to wait 45 days and eventually the claim was met.
Something else has happened as well and i am going to check it out before i make a public statement.
To conclude i understand you are annoyed but do not give up on it; i am pretty sure it will be resolved. and you will rol around in your bed in happiness.

Again thanks to everyone for your comments. Here is the latest on my "lost order."
Seems the seller did have his post-master in Silver Springs Md, look into the matter. He e-mailed me yesterday that a package matching his discription had been found in USPS Nashville TN hub in their "un-deliverable" bin. Seems as though the address labels had been torn off or smeared in some way that Nashville couldn't determine where it was going or who it was from.
Can you belive it?
Anyway the P.Mstr. in Silver Springs had the package returned to him and now the seller is going down to see if this is in fact, my missing order. He is to let me know something in a day or so.
I e-mailed him back to "make tracks" because the 10 day notice on e-bay's complaint expires Feb 5th. After that we will demand a refund.
What fun, just you don't love it?
Regards everyone
I've had that "lost package" bit pulled on me twice, except it was UPS.
The nice part about that is he gets it "back", re-ships it, and you will never know if he did or didn't ship it the first time.
It's a nice game, but eventually they get caught.
Insure it this time.
Curmy, i'm not so sure, i have had something brought home to me personally and i am confident my supplier did everything right but USPS must have mucked things up, try 3 months get get an airmail parcel by USPS even toi here in Queensland and it is quite provable, so hang in there

Well here is the final chapter in the "Woe is me" thread.
Order finally arrived here today via DHL. Appears to be un-damaged but of course I have not been able to run it yet. Everything else looks good. No broken or missing parts that I can tell.
So.................can't say I'll never buy through e-bay again but you may be sure I'll be more careful next time. As they say, "All is well that ends well."
Can you belive snow here over night? About 2 to 3 inches. Not much but around here that's something!!! My poor spot is cover up with the white stuff right now. No work going on...
Best regards everyone..........................
ebay and the supplier were not the problem, it was the delivery organisation and this can come adrift with any supplier. If you pay by paypal and you don't get it, they have an excellent system to give you your money back.

I'm glad to hear you got your order today , we are also getting some snow as i answer this post , good luck with your engine. Ben
Benny I'm on the OTHER side of the coin...I sent a guy a good running $500 model engine (gasoline, not a train)...HE managed to muck it up somehow so that it wouldn't start, refused ALL (multiple) offers to help him get it running, then whines to Paypain that it "wasn't as advertised" (who steals the money out of my account and then takes so long to"investigate" that I can't even get my fees back from evilBay)...They eventually decided the guy deserved a full refund on something HE screwed up. I also spent an HOUR on hold (on my cellpone) with Paypal to have them say I can appeal (another month and change where they sit on the money) IF I can prove to them that HE actually damaged it...but not if he is just an idiot and I feel I deserve a restocking fee to cover my expenses and troubles....on top of that the guy leaves ME a nasty negative that I'm stuck with even though I TRIED to make things right.
Now, this guy (buyer) has FOUR negatives in the last year, all for similar stunts. EvilBay and PayPain on the seller's side? That's just pure hogwash!
Yes Elmik, that is exactly why I don't use stupid useless Payturd. I'm done loosing money to those thieves. Money orders or cashiers checks, with package tracking, is how I Ebay now, it's slower, but in the end both the buyer and seller become more serious about the transaction when there is a definable paper trail of payment and shipping.
Good luck!
I am sorry about that Mik, i hope it turns out.
I have two negatives in ebay and they are both for giving my supplier a negative, which they deserved, i didn't do a thing wrong. But my good name has been sullied.
