Happy New Year everyone and to all who just had birthdays, may the good lord grant you many more, so your RR's can be completed...................
Ian, I was thinking you had a birthday right before Christmas. So did I. Dec. 24th. Turned 69. Can you tell me what its like to be 70? Seems kind-of scarey to me. Is there anything I should do to prepare my self?
I do have a big hauler on order but it didn't get here in time for Christmas. So, still waiting on the postman. Have some track ordered and a holiday passenger car decked out for Christmas.
Well actually things have taken a turn fot he better, I got quite a bit to do with trains, a major text book on trains set out in 50 year periods; going right back to before George Stephenson.
I also got a DVD covering trains of great (notice i didn't put a capital on great) Britain and also some one gave me a book on Thomas the Tank Engine. But that was all for my birthday, not for Christmas

Later eh...Brian.
Vic;
Trolley Days In Pasadena, Charles Seims, 1982 Henry Huntington and the Pacific Electric, Spencer Crump, 1970 Are also very good reference material for someone into Trolleys.
BTW: she also has several hundred photos taken by her Grandfather, as well as some VERY early 8mm home movies, which I have been trying to get her to have transfered to a newer media.

Have fun with your trains
Happy birthday ! I know how it sucks to be born so close to Christmas as mine was the 21st. I did not get anything for the trains for my birthday, but, when I was born back in 1962, my father, when he was told it was a boy, went out that day and bought me a Lionel train set. I still have that very same set, but I keep it stored as it would be irreplaceable if anything were to happen. I also have my dad's Lionel set, his Number 10 1/2 Erector Set and two mint condition Marx tin wind-up toys from the 30's that were his when he was a kid. I do not run the Lionels as I am into the G scale trains.

I received two bags of small pine trees and two diecast german cars; a 60's era Porsche 911 and a new style VW Bug. The pine trees will be used around the perimeter of the outside beer garden on the side of the beerhall and the cars will be parked wherever looks good.
The day after Christmas, I bought 6 packages of various size pine trees from Walmart at 50% off. Each package contained about 10 pieces ranging from small round potted bush to a 9" tall pine. At 50% off, each pack cost $3.94. So for $25.00, I got 60 trees !

Though mine was going to be big. But it was a Christmas Bman 2-8-0 something like that with a trolly so I see some kitbashing ahead.
Other than that not a very merry.......
Hi
Well SWMBO is determined to get a Welsh village on the line so she organized a Lineside Delights booking office, fire bucket set and UK type rail 15MPH speed sign's.
That was arranged through a UK friend.
I had a big spend up before Christmas that netted the Lionel "G" Thomas buildings these in spite of being toys are not that bad once reasonable paint job is done, will have to do something about the steps which are dead give aways as to the toy status of the buildings.
A flat car and an open wagon both Lionel and not bad they have very much a narrow gauge feel to them might even be able to use them on the planned 8' x 8' indoor line.
That's it for another years train spending the exception being track
regards John
Well my birthday was 23 december and i just turned 70; didn't get anything like train stuff for my birthday at all.
My parents got me an LGB 2-6-2 and a Florida Boy Orange DB car. And I got myself a pair of BNSF dash-9s. Plus we got my dad a Lionel Polar Express Set. Lots more trains and nowhere to put em!
