Ok i'm gonna give it a try again . Wow , that is so strange . I didn't do anything different than I did last week when it didn't work . Glad it wasn't anything I was doing wrong .

Hi Mike,

Great pics! I only wish I could still run...my line is buried in about a foot of snow now. I plan to make a rotary snowblower much like Marty Kozad's for next winter. The wedge plow I made could'nt handle the deep white stuff. Thanks for sharing! Later eh...Brian.

All I do is copy the Properties of the picture and then type [img] paste picture properties here , followed by [/img*] . The asterick in the end bracket is here so you can see . Brian ,  I know what you mean about the wedge plow . It wouldn't budge the snow off the latest snowfall of 8" of wet stuff. My wife wants me to build a rotary too but I dont have the time with work and all .I wonder if the North Table Creek railroad would be interested in subcontracting one for the CJ and M ? Hint, hint Marty .

Thanks Mike.  Now tell me where did your picture reside before you copied the properties.  Was it on its own web site somewhere, like "MY Pictures.com" or was it just from a folder on your computer?

you need to use an image hosting site, like photobucket or railimages.  then you need to put the image properties (it's a link) between the [img* ] [* /img] tags.

 

And actually, both sites wil give you the correct code for posting the images.  After you've uploaded an image, you can click on it's thumbnail, and it will show a full-size picture.  Below that full size picture there is a line with teh label "BB Code" - copy/pase that line verbatim into the posting box here, and the image will show up:

 The '*' are so the code will show up.

(OK, I know it's HO... but it's the only scale I have, and I needed an example....)

I got no picture.  Only the web address.  What is wrong?  Any ideas?  Does WindowsXP have anything to do with it?

Did you copy the URL directly to the forum or onto a saved document first?   You have to kill the hyperlink before posting the photo, a hyperlink is what makes the URL turn blue so you can click on it to go to a web site.  If you paste the URL onto a NOTEPAD document you will kill the hyperlink because NOTEPAD does not support that format.  Then cut and paste from NOTEPAD to the fourm with the img tags.  That is the only way I could get it to work.  I'm using Windows XP, other systems may work differently.

 

I cut and pasted your URL into NOTEPAD, deleted the asteriks, and cut and pasted here.  It's a pain in the hind parts, but it works.

I almost did what you did except I copied the URL into a word document, not notepad.  Does that make a difference?  I will try what you did and see if get the same results.

Well, I must be snake bit I guess.  Did everything you said to do ie:

Cut and paste the URL address from my web site host into Notepad.  Removed the astericks then opened a post in the forum, reserved for testing, then highlighted the URL address now in NotePad, clicked on "cut" and toggled over to the forum and did the "control + V" thing.  All I got was the URL address, no picture!

You did say to delete the astericks, didn't you?  Here is what the address looks like I have on the notepad:

I can get this part to work OK, just don't get the picture.  Maybe go over the steps on the forum side after you highlight the URL in Notepad.  Perhaps I'm doing something wrong there.

I've tried clicking on the tool bar above where it says Paste as plain text and get nothing.  Clicking on Paste from Word gives me the same results you see above.  No picture comes through.  Is there another command for the action besides Control + V ?

wait just a doggone minute......there the picture is!!!!  I think I've figured out what my problem was but, before getting to cocky will try it again over in the "test" forum.

I have just posted some pictures for the first time with this new system under Aristo caboose.

In the top tool bar there is the picture of a tree, open this up and press 'insert', this puts the img's up in your post, delete http:// from between the img's - you don't want it in twice. Copy the properties of your picture and paste them between the img's and post.

No problem Bill, this whole thing has been as frustrating as hell. Nice pics, and I love that LGB forney, mmm, that would make a nice addition to the roster!
