Mounting figures in/on loco?

Sir Topem Hat must be investigating a new loco purchase for Sodor Rail 

Wonder what The workshop staff of Sodor Rail will make of a GP9.

I use electrician's putty.....it never hardens, stay's sticky, holds well, water proof and can be used over and over. Doesn't stain either.....

Just ball up a little and place it under their feet and push down.....I have Mr. Top-Em-Hat on my USA GP-9, been there for over a year!!

I have to re crew an LGB 2015D when I have the figures suggestions for the figures to use welcome

I plan on using silicon sealant of some sort it will stick the figure down has some tolerance to vibration and a careless finger but when you really want the figure out of the cab it will come out reasonably easy.

I use hot glue!

Just peels off if not needed.

Figure will pop off before it breaks.

I just use a dab of silicon adhesive on each foot for a standing figure or dab on the duff of a seated figure. You need to let it cure but its pretty secure once it does and can be removed if needed.

mounted mine by drilling a small hole into the leg , matching hole in floor and used a long thin self tapper from below to secure . Seems to work ok so far

What method or material is best for mounting figures in or on a loco? I want something that will keep them pretty firmly in place so they won't fall out during use, movement etc. But I'd like to be able to remove them so that I can swap out figures for different poses, repair or repaint them, etc.
