1st. Annual Open House A Success!
Posted by bman36 on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 11:02 AM

Hi everyone,

     This past weekend was our Canadian Thanksgiving as well as our open house. All went well except for it being very windy. In total roughly 25 people saw the layout including friends and family. One couple even drove from Morden, Manitoba, which is roughly two hours away! The Mann family started their own layout this year and are off to an awesome start. They brought along their own LGB passenger train which we ran for about 45 minutes. It was a real blessing for Naomi and I to have everyone who attended stop in. I took a few pics and a whole lot of video. Problem is we have a new computer and I have not been able to load the software for my video camera. None the less I will post some pics when I get the glitch worked out. A heartfelt thanks to all who came. We look forward to next year. Garden railroading is finally starting to grow here in The Great White North! Manitoba has lagged behind for years but we'll get there. Later eh...Brian.

Brian;

If we can find pics for our WAR of the Rail Road Barrons, you should be able to find a few to post.

Hi,
Other than the windy conditions and coolness in the air, my family had a great time at Brian's open house. The wind actually blew our train off the rails at the south end of the loop. We were bundled up with toques, mitts, and winter jackets. And we survived! The smell of the steaming chili was great. Unfortunately, we were between family gatherings and were unable to put the crockpot contents to the test.

These two pictures are from Brian's backyard with our train travelling the rails. To see our layout check out the link.

Thanks again Brian for the opportunity to check things out!

Hi everyone,

     Michael, thanks for posting the pic. We were glad you all could come. Just a few updates for everyone. I am still looking for the software to load on my new computer so I can upload from my video camera. Since the open house we have had a minor snowstorm! I guess we were just in time. As soon as I can find that disc I'll post some pics! It is MAJOR windy here today so what we had on Sunday was nothing compared to this. The snow melted so I still have a chance to get a plow ready before it hits again. That's it for now! Later eh...Brian.
