To my knowledge, there are no books nor magazine articles that adequetely cover R/C conversion in a simple-to-understand, step-by-step, completely detailed and diagrammed method for the novice. IMO you are pretty much on your own unless you have a company or person do it for you, or unless you like to fiddle around and have a knack for it. There was a series in GRR some time ago about conversion that were not written for a beginner. There's no simple "plug and play."

I converted mine with the help of a friend who lives 2,000 miles away, who talked me through the steps via emails and telephone calls.

Late 2004, early 2005 GR Mag did a series of stories on this subject...Looking at Feb 2005: Installing RC Systems.....hope it helps...also dig around here for post from Tony Walshman, he did a nice job documenting an easy Batt/RC install in a Mack Switcher a while back.

I use batt and RC, by RCS

I'd like to be directed to a book/article introducing RC use in a garden RR.
