As an HO and G scale modeler, I agree that the Walthers Large Scale catalog was hardly worth the price when considering the small amount of G scale items listed.
However, I find their HO scale catalog to be a very valuable reference tool when looking for something, because nearly all of the on-line and mail order sources use the Walthers catalog numbers as their stock numbers, or ask you for a Walthers catalog number when you ask them to get something for you through a special order. I don't know how many web sites I have seen that have a notation to the effect that "We can special order any item if you provide a Walthers catalog number" or similar caveat.

If I remember correctly, the last Big Scale catalog was in 2003.
The reason for not publishing a new one is the very limited edition nature of items in the larger scales...you all know a lot of it is sold out before the item is released.
Couple that with the extremely tardy delivery dates at times and it's too hard to publish a fairly accurate yearly account of what is available.
I sent an email not too long ago to Walthers asking about the Large Scale Book and their reply was that it was not in the near future for a republish.

So how do you guys keep up to date on current products? Do you need to purchase seperate LGB, Bachmann, Aristocraft, USA Trains, and other catalogs? I for one cannot stand the LGB website as everytime I want to look at a product, I need to go through several different steps.
That is why I was hoping for a Walthers catalog. To combine everything together.
