Hands down my favorite would have to be my Accucraft K27's. Double headed these are virtually unstoppable and nothing matches the look of a "mudhen" while under power in my honest opinion...

Lionel collector, stuck in an N scaler's modelling space.
Hi
Right about now a Lionel track powered loco ( any one would do ) and some sort of rolling stock item or two would be nice
I have in my present "on site stock" one Lionel Caboose and nothing else looks quite right running with it.
regards John
Really secretly deep down underneath it all, my favourite is my origianl little Stainz; as pernickity as it is i think i still like it he best, as it was my very first loco!

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?
Long live Outdoor Model Railroading.
If I had replied yesterday, my answer would have been my LGB UP Mikado. Today, I would say my USA F3-A/B w/FB RC-battery car. Tomorrow, I might answer with my Aristo Pacific.

Bachmann 4-6-0 with a Barry's 2-8-0 chassis.
Latest unit in test is a Bachmann 4-6-0 with a 2-8-2 chassis, which is a modified 2-8-0.
You know stuff from him will work, the 2-8-2 was designed to make sure the wheels wouldn't come loose on the axles nor the dual-gearbox and pivoting chassis could fail.
Bachman Shay for detail and impressive mechanisim.
Aristo Mallet for power and toughness.

Come on Jack, you know what kinda stuff I like, (small sized American NG steam logging and mining), am I going to be surprised by anything down the pike or will the standard gauge guys be getting all the glory?
Have fun with your trains

As far as durability is concerned nothing beats an LGB F7! Matt -have you checked the prices on LGB lately? Genesis under $300, Forneys under $250 and a lot more to come!

I think I like my Bachmann Shay and Heisler best - both have been fitted with LGB MTS decoders and Pheonix sound systems and sound just great working their way up the garden....looking forward to adding the Bachmann 3-truck Shay when it's released (this year, next year?) and then keeping my fingers crossed for Bachmann to do an upgraded Climax.
Another favourite at the other end of the spectrum is the LGB "Spreewald" 2-6-0T - picked one up second-hand which had been MTS fitted and then added a European Sound Module - it's a fantastic looking model - "kewl" as they say!!
As for favourite locomotives that I would like to see produced in plastic, the Beyer-Garrat 2-6-6-2 (which ran in South Africa and now run on the Welsh Highland Railway) or for something a little more quirky, the Festiniog Fairlie. Like the idea mentioned earlier of the JR Series 500 Shinkansen Bullet Train - that would be real kewl.......
