Roundhouse G scale

At LHS recently, I saw Roundhouse G scale in a box with new graphics, unlike the old yellow/red/white. I heard that the G scale was not included with the sale to Athearn so I am wondering if the tooling has found a new home or whether someone is again producing it. Not a G scaler so I am not up on things.

I am quite inpressed by Roundhouses "G" scale steam locomotives; seen a couple now and they are pretty good really.

I found this site. It's in England and not connected to the old USA Roundhouse.

All the G trains on the Horizon Hobby site are Bachman, Aristo-Craft or USA Trains.

I would be interested more info on what you saw.

The Roundhouse web site only shows HO models, so that's of no help. http://www.roundhousetrains.com/ The UK's Roundhouse is a long-time manufacturer of gauge 1 and gauge 0 live steam locomotives. I don't think I've ever seen a Roundhouse locomotive in a box, so I don't know if the box seen is for one of their locos.

Personally, I'd love to see the Roundhouse rolling stock return to the market. Their 2-bay hoppers were quite nice, as were their box cars, though probably a touch crude by today's standards. The trucks left something to be desired, though.

Years ago, I worked for MDC Roundhouse . We made the "Critter" a little generic diesel, and several pieces of rolling stock. Most of the molds were too big to run in house, so I don't remember the line ecxactly. The boxes were uncoated white cardboard with  yellow and red graphics. At some point (prior to 1997) the graphics were changed - maybe that was when the red was added. The box I just saw was coated cardboard (in other words - shiny) with very different graphics. They were too high to reach so I couldn't look at the box, but that is what made me think someone else may now be marketing them again.
